For this project, I decided to create an interview type project. What inspired me to go with the interview route was the tutorial we did during the audition tutorials for class. The interview I did relates to my topic because I think it is important to showcase not only why I joined Alpha Chi Omega, but why other girls did too. I am living in the house for my second semester this year and my room mate is my best friend, Sidney. I decided to interview her because while there are similarities as to the reason why we both decided to join Alpha Chi Omega, there are differences as well. That is part of what I think is so empowering about our house. We are a diverse group of women, but we all come together because of our core values. All across the country, Alpha Chi Omega’s core values are academic interest, character, financial responsibility, leadership ability, and personal development. While we all may have our differences (as any large group of women will), we all come together because these values are extremely important to us all. We have been taught to embrace our differences and love each other unconditionally because we are all there for the same reason. How I collected elements and created them was by using the voice memo app on my phone. I first recorded me explaining that I was going to tell why I joined Alpha Chi Omega. Then, I recorded myself explaining my reasoning. Next, I introduced Sidney and said that she was going to say why she joined Alpha Chi Omega. Lastly, I recorded myself explaining how we all joined the house for our different reasons, but it all comes down to the fact that we all value the same things and that is why it is so special. After I finished up all of these audio recordings, I messaged them to my laptop. Then, I saved them to my desktop and put them together in audition. I created a new multitrack mixdown to edit it all together. Since each memo was on my desktop, I would drag them into track 1, then put them in the right order and edited out the unnecessary silences. I am glad I have gotten to share my experiences in Greek Life to you all!
